5 Reasons to visit Blairgowrie this Autumn

Autumn foliage in Perthshire is truly the best in Scotland by far the best place to take in the autumn shades, Perthshire is known as big tree country and home to the world’s largest hedge. Our friends at Visitscotland have even published a leaf peepers guide!

There are many walks in the area, so whether it’s a mosey in your Hunters with the dog, or a more adventurous trek onto the Cateran Trail, then locally there several walks from the heart of Blairgowrie.

Blairgowrie is home to the best fruit in the country, the late summer and autumn harvest means the berries, plums, and apples are at their finest. We also have some fantastic distilleries putting some of the local produce to good use. Check out our friends at The Gin Bothy who make a range of fruit infused gin with locally grown produce.

The crowning place of Scottish Kings, Scone Palace is a must-do on any trip to Perthshire. The 5-star visitor attraction in all its splendour is a must see and close by so you don’t even need to travel far. If you like to shop, then The House of Bruar is a great place for wool, tweed, outdoor gear, and there is a large deli. You may like a meander around Blairgowrie into the local stores and delis, a Saturday is a great day when the Farmers Market is in town, its every 4th Saturday of the month.

There is so much wildlife in Perthshire and the highlands.  In autumn and winter the red dear are especially active as they spar and roar with their large antlers ready for the annual Rut. In Perthshire you can spot red squirrel and of course the birds of prey flying through the forests and glens.
